Introductory Course in the Somatic Experiencing® (SE™) Method

She introduced Dr. Peter Levine’s training programs in England and France, where she leads courses dedicated to traumatic stress. Her professional experience is impressively diverse—she is a licensed midwife, somatic therapist, instructor in “touch in parenting,” and the founder of SOS Internationale (SOSI).
Giselle has dedicated her life to working with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in children, adolescents, and adults, as well as in high-stress contexts—from war zones to international disasters. Her professional journey includes participation in crisis intervention teams in India after the tsunami, in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina, and in South Africa following the end of apartheid.
This two-day course serves as an introduction to the SE™ method and is suitable for professionals from various fields.
Each participant in the introductory course will gain practical skills and techniques that can be applied immediately, both for personal use and in their professional practice, to support the regulation of their own nervous system and that of their clients.
Skills are developed step by step through theory, demonstrations, and exercises in a safe and supportive environment, ensuring a smooth and effective approach to working with the nervous system.
The SE™ method offers a new understanding of trauma and its effects, based on Dr. Peter Levine’s observations of wild animals. Despite frequently encountering life-threatening situations, animals do not experience trauma in the same way humans do. The encouraging conclusion is that our own bodies have innate mechanisms for recovery and resilience, and SE™ is designed to activate these mechanisms.
